Me talking live on TV about Yoga types

On June 21st, in honor of the International Yoga Day, I was invited to talk in a morning show with Miri Nevo and Or Heller to talk about Yoga Types . They got in touch with me after they found an article I wrote about yoga types almost 2 years ago. The production company wanted to have acroyoga while I speak and I was really not keen. I felt it’s not serious to show acroyoga when there are other deep yoga practices based on traditions.

I was quite nervous on live TV and did not feel that I spoke as precise as I could so I feel like sharing this video with an explanation of what yoga is for me: Yoga is union, with so many things- from different parts of ourselves, to others, the universe, divinity and more. Mainly by minimizing or stopping the fluctuations of the mind. You can not understand yoga just by talking about it, you have to dive deep into the practice (sadhana) and every day is the day of yoga for those who follow this path.

It is important to remember that the physical practice (and the types that developed from Hatha Yoga like Iyengar, Ashtanga, Shivananda..) are only a very small part of a comprehensive system of 8 limbs of yoga, described by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. There are also other yoga paths besides Hatha Yoga: Bhakti, Tantra, Janana, Karma, Raja.. that do not necessarily use the body but use different approaches and tools with the same goal, to connect, to love and to be liberated. BTW you will see in the video that Inbar and Yaniv, the acro yogis I brought with me, were just amazing on the show!! Acro yoga is great fun but it is not a yoga practice. Anyway, I'm super grateful for this opportunity that was given to me and happy I managed to talk despite the nerves (:
